“Planning is important. So, plan for lunch during breakfast and dinner during lunch!”

Denise is an engineer by training, foodie at heart. She has left the corporate world to pursue what she loves, which is to eat and write. She is the co-founder, illustrator and food writer for myfoodstory.sg.
In June 2018, she welcomed Baby Eachern (aka Little Bum Bum) into her life. Embracing motherhood, she also writes about mummy and baby stuff on myfoodstory.sg now.
Writer’s Thoughts
You are probably familiar with this song- “When I was a little girl, I asked my mother what will I be? Will I be pretty? Will I be rich? Here’s what she said to me. Que Sera, Sera. Whatever will be, will be. The future’s not ours to see. Que Sera, Sera.” My own mother said something along the same line, minus Que Sera, Sera. But in my case, I should have just asked my dad.
When I was in Primary School, I will openly comment about the food served at home whenever they do not taste the same as usual. The rest of my family could not tell the difference but each time, my father claimed that he had indeed switched some ingredient or the method of cooking. Then, he proudly declared that I could become a professional food taster because my sense of taste was so sensitive (in other words, picky).
When I was in Secondary 2, my poem won a Commendation Prize in an United Nations writing competition. Then, my father mused that I could become a writer.
When I grew up, I became neither. I studied Electrical Engineering and worked as an Engineer for a Japanese Lift Company.
7 years later, I had a mid career change. So here I am, a food blogger; both a food taster and a writer.
My father knew best, after all.
Cheers, Denise
