Uya Unagi @Wheelock Place
If you are a fan of fresh charcoal-grilled eels but dislike long queues (think Man Man), rejoice! Because Uya Unagi is here to the rescue! Like Man Man, Uya is an eel specialty eatery where live eels are charcoal grilled on demand (till their skin are crispy) at an affordable price (not cheap but less atas compared to places like Chikuyotei). Yet, Uya allows reservations! So with some planning, you will be able to satisfy your eel cravings without queuing for hours!
Misato @The Centrepoint
Misato is a hidden gem right in town. Located conveniently within Gastro+ in Centrepoint, it is a value-for-money Japanese restaurant opened by a Singaporean who is enthusiastic about Japanese food and culture. The food at Misato are generally well executed with on-point flavours. Personally, I will recommend their Seafood Kaminabe Set, Cha Soba and Tonkatsu Set. While not the best out there, they are definitely way above average and worth it for the price. For desserts, just order as you wish- you won't go wrong with any of them!
Paik’s Coffee
For Wallet Friendly and Large Sized Korean Coffee, Smoothies and Drinks!
Starker Q @JEM
Starker Q serves mainly Asian fare like Ramen, Korean pizzas, Local Dishes and some simple Western meals with their Signature Stärker Fresh Beer (locally brewed German-style fresh beer) and local kopi/tea. Live band performances and soccer match screenings are available here!
One Man Coffee @Upper Thomson Road
One Man Coffee is a small cozy cafe serving All Day Brunch, Pizzas, Bakes and Coffee. While I wouldn't make a special trip down for their food, I wouldn't mind dropping in when I am in the area. Personally, I find the ambience here one of the nicest among all the eateries situated within the vicinity.
Paul @Westgate
Paul is a beautiful French style bakery cafe that serves French cuisine and a wide range of breads, pastries and cakes. With their classy decor, dining here makes one feel like they are in Paris. Personally, I enjoy their crepes, waffles and omelettes very much.
