If you are a fan of fresh charcoal-grilled eels but dislike long queues (think Man Man), rejoice! Because Uya Unagi is here to the rescue! Like Man Man, Uya is an eel specialty eatery where live eels are charcoal grilled on demand (till their skin are crispy) at an affordable price (not cheap but less atas compared to places like Chikuyotei). Yet, Uya allows reservations! So with some planning, you will be able to satisfy your eel cravings without queuing for hours!

My Favourite Cafe @Lucky Plaza

The main ingredients of Yong Tau Foo, which are tofu and various vegetables stuffed with minced meat or fish paste, seldom taste very different from stall to stall. What set various stalls apart are the variety and freshness of the ingredients offered plus the kind of sauce/gravy used. My Favourite Café does well in all 3 categories by offering over 30 different fresh ingredients and a nice though optional curry gravy. But that’s not all. They also have two secret weapons; their homemade meatballs and braised mushrooms.

The Dark Gallery Cafe @Takashimaya

I am still undecided about whether I would recommend The Dark Gallery Flagship Cafe to Chocolate Lovers and Dessert Fans. Based on what I have tried, the offerings are pretty decent for a cafe but not impressive enough for a chocolate specialty place. Then again, to be fair, I have yet to try their famed products like the Dark Chocolate Gelato and Signature Dark Chocolate Cake. Shall update after I have tried!

This is the perfect place for tired hubbies to take a coffee break while the wives are on a shopping spree at Isetan Scotts. Since it is within Isetan Scotts itself, you can stay there with the unpaid loot while your wife continues to shop. If you need a wake up call, look no further than their extra strong iced coffee! There's 4 shots in it!

The Coffee Academics @Scotts Square

I would highly recommend their specialty handcrafted coffees. Choices are aplenty and you will do well regardless if you ordered a hot or iced one. You can even make your own bespoke coffee blend here. A small selection of All-Day-Breakfast, mains and sides are also available. However, food takes a backseat when compared to their coffees.

The Providore @Mandarin Gallery is one of the busiest Providore outlets; hardly a surprise because of its superb location. Accessible yet exclusive, it is hidden from view on the second level of Mandarin Gallery but can easily be reached by riding up Mandarin Gallery's hard-to-miss outdoor escalator along Orchard Road. The restaurant also features an outdoor space for people watching, a communal table for large groups, small tables for intimate chats and a wine room for alcohol lovers, pleasing almost everyone.

Food is unpretentious and delicious; there are vegan, gluten-free and keto options and service is on point. The only thing that isn't awesome here is the short operating hours, so check the hours before heading down.
