Shop/Food Review
Ms Teatime Says:
As a dessert lover, I have been wanting to visit The Dark Gallery for their dark chocolate desserts since they opened their first outlet at Millenia Walk last year. But somehow my virgin visit only materialised after they opened their flagship outlet at Takashimaya recently.

Taking over one part of the gigantic space previously occupied by the Royal Sporting House in the basement of Takashimaya, this flagship cafe is more spacious and comfortable (compared to the Millenia Walk outlet) and also includes an separate retail space for dark chocolate confections.
Being my first time here, I was at a lost regarding what to order. Should it be one of their single-origin platters, plated desserts, gelato, artisan confections, signature chocolate drinks, Mod-Bar® pour-overs or the one-for-one coffees using Common Man Coffee Roasters' espresso?

I decided to post the question to the friendly cashier and she was really helpful. 100 Brownie Points to her for the service! I took her drinks suggestion and ordered their Signature 66% Dark Chocolate and a Single Origin Pour Over Coffee that's prepared by Singapore’s first Mod-Bar® pour-over and steam system. This system is supposedly able to follow exact time interval and water volume recipes and allows the user to control the brew temperature, saturation and flow rate to extract the best brew from the beans. For confections, I decided on a tea cake and chocolate scone.
To be honest, apart from the yummy tea cake, I wasn't impressed with the rest of my orders. Chocolate scone was not memorable. Signature Dark Chocolate tasted good but was not as thick as I would have liked; it was underwhelming for a chocolate specialty chocolate cafe. Pour over coffee was just meh and I was left wondering what the fuss is about the Mod-Bar® pour-over and steam system. Oh well, perhaps I chose the wrong beans for the pour over and to be fair, I am no coffee connoisseur.
Anyway, having seen alot of raves about their dark chocolate gelato and dark chocolate cake, I shall try these before I conclude how I really feel about The Dark Gallery.
