Mr Good Says:
If you constantly find the portions served at typical cafes and restaurants too small, I have the perfect recommendation for you! Deng! Deng! Deng! Deng! Presenting to you TOBY's The Dessert Asylum, a kids friendly restaurant with big portions hidden inconspicuously along Boon Lay Way (formerly, TOBY's was located at Parkway Parade).
As the name suggests, TOBY's The Dessert Asylum is a dessert haven! Francis (the boss) shared that some of their mud pies are made with the recipes from the bygone n.y.d.c (New York Dessert Cafe) using Anderson's ice cream. So fans of n.y.d.c's legendary's mud pies, you know where to go ya?

I went for one of TOBY's original creation Brain Freeze, an unconventional combination of lemon sorbet and vanilla ice cream on biscuit. This felt like a refreshing guilt-free dessert that is perfect as an after meal dessert.

Apart from mud pies, Toby's also offers homemade cakes (go for their Ondeh Ondeh), thick toasts and waffles, which are delicious too! In short, dessert is TOBY's strength!

But desserts are NOT all they have! Positioned as an American-style family restaurant, TOBY's menu includes salads, burgers, sandwiches, pastas and pizzas. In addition to the American menu, portions served here are also American portions! I could barely finish any of the dishes on my own. So for ladies and those with a small appetite, I will urge you to share! But if you are one who appreciates big servings, their generous portions will be perfect for you!

Among the dishes I tried, I was most impressed with their signature stewed pork pizza and battered button mushrooms. The stewed pork is so popular that TOBY's incorporated it into more than one dish (baked item, sandwich and pasta) to cater to a larger audience.

As a kids-friendly eatery, they also have a kids menu for children below 10. And if your children join the TOBY's Kids Club, they will also be entitled to FREE food!
To qualify for the Kids Club, each child just needs to make one order of the S$12 kids set meal. The kids set meal consists of a main, dessert and drink. Each qualified child will be issued his/her own Kids Club membership card.
Upon showing the member ID on your next visit, your child will get a free corresponding Main/Dessert/Drink ordered by you. For example, any order of an adult Main will entitle your child to a complimentary Main from the kids menu. The same applies for Desserts and Drink. If you purchase a Main plus Dessert and Drink, your child will get all three items for free (choices from the Kids Menu)!
