UPDATE (16 Nov 2018): Swensen's Weekend Breakfast

I am a big fan of avocado so when Swensen's avocado toast started to pop up on my Instagram feed, I just had to go try it! Verdict? Well, the avocado paste was decent- chilled, smooth and not too sweet. However, it is slightly runny and I prefer more textured ones. I also think that a savoury avocado toast will be more suitable for breakfast. Another gripe I have with this toast set is the portion. The amount of scrambled eggs that came with the avocado toast was too pathetic!

Miss Teatime had the Omelette Set, which was not bad. It was tasty without being oily or overly salty. On their breakfast menu, there were a couple of other items that looked interesting (like the Southern Style Chicken and Waffle) so we might be back.

If you have kids, do bring them along to take advantage of Swensen's breakfast offer where each child gets a FREE kids breakfast for every adult breakfast ordered. One word of caution, although the official breakfast hours are 8am to 11am, they actually close breakfast orders 10 mins early (at least that's the practice at the IMM outlet), so make sure you arrive way before the stated 11am closure time. Also, note that breakfast is not available at all outlets. Do check their website for details.

Happy Kids at Swensen's

Swensen's was my favourite childhood restaurant as it serves gigantic ice cream parfaits (like Earthquake & The Volcano), delicious ice cream cakes and French fries with dips! After decades, it is still an endearing place for kids (my nephews are big fans).

Serving a wide range of comfort food at comfortable prices, it is a good place for a casual meal with the family. However, I will recommend that you stick with the classic dishes (like the Sourdough 49ers Chicken and Fish & Chips) and avoid the slightly cheaper "Price is Right" meals and desserts. The price may be right, unfortunately the taste is not.

Firehouse Happy Birthday (Complimentary on your birthday)

Swensen's is also perfect for birthday celebrations since they give FREE ice cream to diners on their birthday (ID is required).

Swensen's Classics
Spaghetti Aglio Olio
Seafood Arrabbiata Pasta
Surprisingly spicy (adult level). Seafood is pretty fresh.
Sourdough 49ers Chicken
Good Old Classic that doesn't go wrong.
Fish & Chips
The fish in this dish tasted better than the one used for the Reely Good Fish Burger. I like this.
Chick It Out
Not too bad on days you crave for fried chicken. Above average.
Farm Roast Chicken With Herb Gravy
Sufficiently juicy and tender chicken drumstick.
BBQ Chicken
I didn't like the BBQ sauce.
Hawaiian Pizza
Decent rendition but order only when you crave for pizza.
Prawn & Fruit Salad
I love this salad! The mango-citrus dressing makes the salad super appetizing!
Mozzarella Cheese Sticks
This is too bland for me. But it is immensely popular with the kids!

Clam Chowder
Soups in bread bowls just taste better!
"Price is Right" Menu
Spaghetti Carbonara (S$10.80++)
Creamy and eggy sauce with al dente spaghetti. Classic carbonara done well.
Taco Beef Rice (S$10.80++)
Taste good but slightly overpriced considering that this is just minced meat with rice.
Go Green Lasagne (S$10.80++)
Lasagna sauce is good but the pasta is too doughy and slightly under-cooked.
Reely Good Fish Burger (S$10.80++)
Had really high expectations on this one but it didn't deliver. Looks better than it taste. Fish has a muddy taste.
Desserts/Drinks
Pop Goes the Caramel (S$11.80++)
You're the Apple of my Pie (S$13.80++)
I like the green apple slices but not the doughy pudding.
Petite Milo Ice Cream Dirt Pot (S$5.90++)
Basically the dessert version of "Milo Dinosaur" drink.
Firehouse Happy Birthday (Complimentary on your birthday)
The kids love this!
From Left: Mango Lychee Fruit Blended, Rainbow Lime Float, Strawberry Kiwi Yogurt Smoothie
The drinks are not too sweet. Pretty refreshing.
