Shop/Food Review
Mr Good Says:
[Take Note: Starker Q @JEM has recently completed its renovation and has reopened as Starker Bistro @JEM]
The following write-up is based on the pre-renovation Starker Q.
Starker Q serves mainly Asian fare like Ramen, Korean pizzas, Local Dishes and some simple Western meals with their Signature Stärker Fresh Beer (locally brewed German-style fresh beer) and local kopi/tea.
Since no service charge is imposed, everything here is on a self-service basis. First, choose and pay for your desired food from their self-service kiosks then proceed into the restaurant to order and collect your beverages from their counter. Next, find your own tables (free-seating) and pick up your food from the collection point when your receipt number is called.
I like that the menu is varied and prices reasonable though I wouldn't rave about the food here. Flavours are on the stronger and saltier side (as most food at beer serving places are) but generally acceptable. Compared to the beer and ambience, food takes backstage role.
Although Starker Q does not collect any service charge, the service staff (mostly aunties and uncles) here are pretty prompt and friendly. Football fans will also be pleased to know that selected soccer matches are screened here each day.

In addition, Starker Q is one of the few places with live band performances (on weekends) for people staying in the Western part of Singapore. I like that the live band is in an outdoor setting, ensuring that the music is not overly loud.
