Mr Good Says:
Whenever I need a few hours' break from the hectic city life, I will visit The Halia in the Singapore Botanic Gardens (SBG) for a meal. Halia means "ginger" in Malay so naturally, ginger or ginger flowers are featured frequently in their menu. To accommodate diners who cannot take the ginger spice, there are many non-ginger options and a kids menu for the little ones too.
Halia has both an indoor dining space with air-conditioning and an outdoor dining space with shelter and ceiling fans. I recommend the outdoor space. As I sit in the elevated hut-like dining space surrounded by dense foliage without a single building in sight, my body immediately relaxes as my mind is transported to a Balinese countryside.
On a rainy day, the drizzle adds a dreamy tranquility to the scene. I love to watch the rain drops fall as I idle with a hot beverage in hand. When it is a sunny day, I head over to Halia's bar for a drink. Halia is Halal Certified so you won't find alcohol being served.

Instead, watch the bartender concoct a variety of healthful mocktails (think roselle, ginger and goji berry) that are pretty to look at and lovely to drink.

The food at Halia is pretty pricey; however, they feature real food (as opposed to processed foods), house-made sauces and subtle flavors that are good for our body. Anyway, the main reason I visit Halia is not for the food and drinks. I come here for a short getaway, a mini holiday to relax my mind and recharge my body.
