May’s Kafe @Beauty World Centre
May's Kafe @Beauty World Centre is located just beside the escalator in the basement level of Beauty World Centre. It is a self service local coffee house with free seating. Here, you have to order and collect your own food. In return, you are rewarded with affordable prices.
For a local kopi place, their menu is quite extensive. Other than local breakfast items like toasts, chee cheong fan, fried bee hoon, fishball noodles, prata and nasi lemak, they also serve less commonly found dishes like laksa chee cheong fan, abalone fishball noodles and bulgogi chicken rice bowl. There is even ang moh kopi (latte), though I wasn't too impressed after tasting it. (Update: They have removed espresso based coffees from their menu.)

Loaf @Bukit Timah Shopping Centre
[Temporarily Closed] Loaf is located in the basement level of Bukit Timah Shopping Centre (not to be confused with Bukit Timah Plaza). Loaf has a small menu consisting of only Laksa (no cockles), Mee Rebus, a special of the day, toasts and drinks. If you are one of those who don't mind laksa without cockles, I highly recommend Loaf's laksa. The aromatic laksa is served piping hot with beansprouts, hard boiled egg, tau pok (bean curd puff) and fried tau kee (beancurd skin with fish cake filling). Laksa with fried items is just a perfect match! Bonus points goes to the young owners, who are very warm and welcoming.
